New Showroom Opens
The official launch of the new Derek Slack Motors SKODA dealership took place on the 14 April 2016, concluding with a weekend of special offers and promotions. The family-run dealership which has served Middlesbrough and the North East for over 43 years, welcomed a host of delegates from both SKODA UK and the local media. Gazette Media Company managing director Robert Cuffe, speaking at the event said: “Derek Slack Motors are the last remaining family run motor retailer in Middlesbrough, a company who have remained true to their roots serving the local community, we’re proud to support such a well established local business.” Tony Slack, Managing Director added: The new site is bigger and refurbished to SKODA’s own flagship dealership specifications. The state-of-the-art facility is the final piece in the jigsaw of a 4 year expansion plan. Our rapid growth and strong performance has even led to recognition from the London Stock Exchange as one of ‘1000 Businesses to Inspire Britain’, in 2015.” Derek Slack, founder of Derek Slack Motors said: “We didn’t start by selling vehicles but as a small service and repair workshop with an excellent reputation for good service. Working with many different makes we eventually become main dealers for SKODA. I’m proud to say we are the oldest SKODA dealer in the North East.” During the event, visitors enjoyed a fun-filled evening of entertainment, including special SKODA prizes, the world’s largest Scalextric track, a vintage SKODA 110 R from the ŠKODA Museum in Mladá Boleslav and the SKODA Yeti from BBC’s TopGear (helicopter included). Inside the new handover-bay ŠKODA’s cycling simulator challenge was underway with names constantly changing on the leader board. Golf professional James Atthey from Stokesley Golf Academy was also on hand to take budding golfers through their swing. Refreshments and delicious food was cooked and prepared by ‘Swift Quality Catering’. Tony finished by saying, “The open evening and weekend proved a great success and everyone left with a complimentary SKODA bag of gifts, offers and memorabilia. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved for making it such a great launch and to all our customers and staff for enduring with the disruption during the various building phases.
