Double win for ŠKODA in the What Car? Tow Car Awards
ŠKODA is once again an award-winning choice for those who take to the road with a caravan in tow, with two models taking home titles in this year’s What Car? Tow Car Awards 2022. The highly acclaimed ŠKODA KAROQ demonstrated its versatility as the winner of the 1550-1699kg weight class. The nimble SCALA is named best towing Up to 1400kg.
What Car? in partnership with The Camping and Caravanning Club has named the best tow cars in the industry in its annual awards.
The ŠKODA KAROQ has proved it’s the perfect choice for owners and families looking for an SUV that can expertly tow. The 2.0-litre TDI 150 SE L 4x4 DSG drivetrain has been highlighted as the model of choice in the 1550-1699kg category.
Commenting on the win, Steve Huntingford editor at What Car?, said: “The KAROQ is one of those cars that ticks all the right boxes; it’s a superb all-rounder.” Steve added: “Solid straight-line performance is matched with excellent stability. None of our drivers had any qualms about towing at up to 70mph on the test track. Even the lane-change test left the KAROQ unfazed.”
The ŠKODA SCALA is the best on the road in the Up to 1400kg category. The 1.0-litre TSI SE engine made a big impression on the judges who praised its refined drive and fuel economy. “Small cars rarely tow well, but the ŠKODA SCALA is an exception.” Steve added. “It’s smooth and quiet, and doesn’t protest too loudly when it’s put to work, which it needs to be while towing.”
