Finale to The Derek Slack Junior Golf Tour 2015
The Derek Slack Junior Golf Tour is a series of 4 Major junior golf competitions, hosted by the James Atthey - Golf Academy at Stokesley Golf Range. The competitions are held during school holidays, with juniors competing against other kids in a similar age group, categories split into 9 and under / 10-11 Years / 12 and over. The Golf Tour is open to boys and girls of all ages, ranging from 5-17 years old. We also encourage all abilities to enter from juniors that have only recently started playing to those which play at county and national level. Our aim is to offer the opportunity to play and interact with others from our Junior Academy in a fun, relaxed, competitive environment. Each event offers prizes for the top 3 players in each age category and there is an annual Order Of Merit Championship to play for, as juniors are awarded points depending on their finishing position at each competition. We offer a Scholarship Scheme for the top 2 juniors in each age group, in the final Order Of Merit standings, with these juniors winning both individual coaching programmes and memberships of the driving range facilities. The Scholarships are to be used through 2016 and are designed to develop the skills of these talents youngsters further. This is the second year that Derek Slack Motors have sponsored the Junior Golf Tour and the numbers of entries have increased each year with over 60 juniors entering in 2015. "Having the support from such a big and respected local business is fantastic", said James. "Derek Slack Motors are helping to grow the game of golf at grass routes in Teesside, they offer some amazing prizes giving motivation for juniors to participate, improve and flourish in a fantastic sport. A big thanks should also go to Stokesley Golf Range who continue to offer their 1st class facilities to juniors, and encourage family participation."
